Eli Montana, Negosentro | Email marketing is not old, as many would like to believe. Sure the craze of getting mails in your inbox and reading through each of them is becoming outdated but that does not mean you should not employ this channel for marketing your services and products.
So how you can devise a successful email marketing campaign this year, well, you are in luck. We’ve got just the things for you.
Start with a goal
You need to ask yourself why you are sending this email in the first place. What is your objective or what are seeking to achieve through this? Then, craft a message keeping in mind that goal. This will make it easy for you to get the desired outcome.
But even before this, you would want your customers and potential customers to click and open that email. When do customers open their email? They do when it is from someone they can trust. How to establish trust? By creating a subject line and a compelling one at that!
Check the sender name
Your ‘From’ name is what customers recognize you by. When your ‘From’ will be of a person and not a robot, the person reading your email would want to reply back to you. Make sure that your ‘From’ address is based on no more than 22 characters.
Stick to subject line guidelines
Firstly, your subject line should be made around a USP (Unique Selling Proposition) that will incite customer’s interest. They should be to know what’s in it for them. So be specific, be timely and best of all, be irresistible.
Do your research and test out with some subject lines. You can learn this via trial and method. Ask yourself, which ones you would want to open and which ones you would mark as spam. Also, subject lines must not be longer than 50 characters.
50 characters and 8 words in your subject line, bring the best results. Your subject should stick to two topics (maximum) and must not try to tackle or squeeze in more subjects. However, with two topics, you will be met with some difficulty in coming up with subject lines.
Other aspects include use of active verbs and rich nouns. You can spice up your subjects with a bit of humor (if you are feeling like it). Moreover, you can Google “top email subject line for writing an email” for finding inspiration.
Spam proof the email
There are special kinds of words that will land your email straight to customer’s spam folder. These words are free, video, sample, double your, and anything which is even remotely related to money and you have a chance of having your email opening. Plus, never use UPPERCASE or excess exclamation marks.
Experiment with content ideas
When writing an email, remember to utilize a conversational tone instead of a tone which gives away that you are writing to a person from a subscriber’s list. Heavily use words like ‘I’, ‘you, ‘we’, ‘me’, ‘your’ for adding warmth to your message.
Instill a sense of emergency in the hearts of your customers. Say if an offer is only for a limited time and explain how availing the product or service will transform their lives for better. You can incorporate a recent success story or provide them with some downloadable resource.
You can also include a How-To article or for that matter add proof of before/after photos coupled with testimonials from customers.
Lastly, make CTA to work
How do you make your call to action to work? You can achieve this by placing it close to the starting point of your email. You can bold it or increase its text size to make it more noticeable. Then comes secondary call to action buttons such as social media or your website link(s).
Put a cap on your CTAs by limiting them to no more than three. With PS at the end, you make CTA stand out even more!
