In almost all of these cases, the job is computer-based. So, these jobs that were already sedentary, to begin with, have now eliminated the need to even go back and forth between floors or departments. People are also exercising and working out less and playing fewer recreational sports such as pickup basketball, softball, and golf. Fitness related activities like cycling are also less popular as leisure time in general decreases.

One reason that activity is so important is that it helps to increase bone density and strength, which is something that will help prevent you from having to deal with orthopedic conditions and treatments. With that in mind, here are five tips to incorporate a little more activity into your life:

  1. Take Your Dog for a Walk

If you have a canine companion, they would love nothing more than to take a daily stroll with you in the evenings. Depending on what time you get home you can get a nice little walk in around the neighborhood, get a moderate amount of exercise for you and your pup, and still make it back in plenty of time to handle any nightly chores that may be awaiting you.

Another way to kill two birds with one stone is to spend some time playing with your kids. Not only do you get the joy of spending time with the ones that you love most in life, but you also get some of that much-needed activity in after eight or more hours of sitting. And if you have really young children, maybe you will get lucky and the fun will tire them out by the time that their bedtime comes around!

This can be a quick and easy way to get in even 15 or 20 minutes of valuable exercise time for the day. Whether you want to do it as soon as you walk in the door while you still have some energy left, or you want to relax and unwind a little bit before doing anything else, it will always be available for you online whenever you are ready.

When the weather is nice, getting in an easy jog at a nearby park or the local outdoor track can be a great way to complete a really beneficial fitness session in a short amount of time.

You don’t have to go through an insane workout just because you set foot inside a gym. Simply stretching for 10 minutes, followed by a 30-minute cardio session, can have you headed back home after 45 minutes. If you want to treat yourself even further, you can opt for 15 minutes in the dry sauna or steam room and still be in and out in right around an hour. It’s a great way to get a variety of wellness activities in on a time budget.
