Sony PH debuts another LTE phone

Sony Mobile has released its latest Xperia smartphone model to join its 2013 line-up — the Xperia SP, which features 4G LTE performance with HD screen.

The Xperia SP also offers NFC connectivity for one-touch function and battery Stamina Mode for extended battery life; and Sony’s signature media apps for photos, music, movies and games on the go.

“The Xperia SP shoots razor-sharp images and vibrant colours in any type of light, thanks to its 8 MP camera with High-Dynamic Range (HDR) and Exmor RS. This phone is perfect for the technology-savvy and those who are unwilling to compromise function or style in their smartphones,” said Sony Mobile president and managing director Yasushi Asaoka.

Sony Mobile has the most number of LTE devices in the Philippines, with four handsets now supporting LTE connectivity: Xperia SP, Xperia Z, Xperia ZL, and Xperia V. The Xperia Tablet Z is also slated to launch soon and will expand Sony’s LTE range.

LTE is a telecommunication standard capable of high-speed data transfers, several times faster than present-day 3G and HSPA+ speeds. LTE is up to 6 times faster than the current 3G network (up to 42 Mbps vs up to 7 Mbps).

LTE consumers are able to stream music and video, upload, download and essentially do anything on the Web using their mobile phones almost as fast as if they were directly tapped into a broadband connection.

LTE’s faster upload and download, in turn, give application developers more options for creating better user experiences on mobile for gaming, socializing, shopping, watching videos, and more via the Web or apps.

Sony’s Bravia TV engineers were behind the development of the Xperia SP’s 4.6” HD Reality Display that enables sharp pictures and brightness. The latest Mobile Bravia Engine 2 delivers an even better viewing experience by analyzing content type and adjusting the image automatically, making it one of the most intelligent smartphone screens around.

The engine will make the adjustment by adding new real-time contrast optimization to the sharpness enhancement, high-quality color management and noise reduction.

The Xperia SP is housed in a precision-crafted co-moulded aluminium frame for a seamless look that is both sleek and solid. Adding to the design innovation is the color-changing ‘transparent element’ with customizable illuminations which can be personalized to alert incoming calls and text messages.

The Xperia SP is available in stores nationwide at a suggested retail price of P19,990.00.
